Chlamydia is one of the most curable causes of infertility in women and reduced fertility in men. If it is left untreated, the infection can cause permanent damage to your reproductive organs. It is transmitted through sexual intercourse including unprotected vaginal, anal and oral contact.

Those who have acquired this bacterial infection often experience few or no symptoms, especially in the initial stages. However, when present, symptoms can include unusual discharge, fever, pain when urinating, genital discomfort, or skin problems that can also occur around the anus.

Women may see changes in their menstrual cycle such as irregular bleeding. Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID) can also indicate a Chlamydia infection. Men may suffer from painful or swollen testicles.

Better2Know’s suggested STD screens and tests

Better2Know includes Chlamydia testing in various screening options available in Saudi Arabia. Our extensive range of STI tests enables you to combine tests to create a screen that meets your personal concerns.

A single urine sample will be required for your Chlamydia test. Please try to refrain from using the bathroom in the two hours before your appointment to make sure that you can provide your sample. Analysis of your sample will be conducted in our fully certified, central laboratory.

Better2Know’s Comfort Screen uses a urine sample to test for Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, Herpes I/II, Trichomonas, Mycoplasma and Ureaplasma. It is suitable just 14 days after your most recent sexual encounter. You will receive your results no more than five working days after your sample arrives at our laboratory.

You can choose our Peace of Mind Screen which uses blood and urine samples to detect three common STIs: Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea and Syphilis. This is also available after a 14-day period of incubation. Results will be ready to report within five working days of your sample’s arrival at our laboratory.

Testing positive for Chlamydia

If your Better2Know Chlamydia test is positive, our highly trained Patient Services team will arrange a private doctor’s consultation so you can discuss your diagnosis in more detail. You will also be prescribed antibiotics by your Better2Know doctor. Alternatively, you are free to take your results to your own doctor or sexual health care provider.

Sexual health legislation in the Middle East can be complex. Better2Know’s STI testing services adhere to these laws. As a result, you may be required to provide identification at your private appointment.
