Urology Diagnostics
Urology Diagnostics is the study of urine and the urinary system as a means for identifying and diagnosing illness or disease. The field of urology deals with diseases and illnesses of the urinary and reproductive system in men and with urinary diseases and illnesses in women.
Urology Diagnostic Clinics specialise in testing for problems associated with both the male and female urinary tracts. There are many different kinds of test that can be performed to check and monitor the urinary systems including urine analysis tests, ultrasound tests and blood tests.
How do I know if I have a problem?
Problems with the urinary system are common and are mostly caused by infections. These infections can produce pain, darker coloured urine, the feeling of needing to urinate frequently and, in some cases, produce fevers, chills and abdominal pain. Other causes of urinary problems can include prostate disease, certain cancers, ectopic pregnancies and a variety of other factors.
If you are experiencing any of the symptoms listed above, notice any other changes to your urine, including unusual discharges, bleeding, swelling or discomforts then you should consider attending a Better2Know urology diagnostic center right away.
Did you know? …
Urinary tract infections can be caused by a variety of bacteria including organisms such as Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, Mycoplasma and Ureaplasma.
What happens at a Urology Diagnostic Clinic?
At your appointment, you will be seen by a qualified doctor or nurse who will ask you a few questions about your condition and ask you to describe any symptoms you may have been experiencing. They will then ask you to provide a urine sample which will be sent to the Better2Know testing laboratory.
Our laboratory will test your sample for the infections you will have discussed when booking your tests. If the doctor or nurse thinks that other additional tests should be run then Better2Know will arrange this with you and the lab to ensure that all the correct tests are conducted.
Your test results will normally be ready within three to five days, depending on which tests we are running for you. Once your results are back we will inform you via our secure patent area and if you need any treatment or follow-up, we will arrange this with you.
What happens if I do not get a Urology Diagnostic test?
Most infections can be easily treated and cured. However, most infections will not just go away on their own, so if you are experiencing any symptoms it is important to find out what the problem is and access the right treatment.
Different infections require different antibiotics to clear, so it is important to get the right antibiotics. Testing at a urology diagnostic clinic is the only way to do this.
