  • Need to urinate more often
  • Slow urine stream
  • Abnormal discharge from the penis
  • Inflamed or swollen testicles
  • Discomfort around the tip of the penis.

Did you know? …

Ureaplasma can cause complications if you are or want to be pregnant. The only way to know if you have it is to get tested.

How can I catch Ureaplasma?

Ureaplasma occurs naturally in the body. Stress or a change in your daily routine may lead to an overgrowth or outbreak. It can also be sexually transmitted through vaginal intercourse.

What happens if I do not get treatment?

Men

Ureaplasma can cause urethritis in men. This can be a painful condition. An untreated infection can also be passed onto a partner.

Women

In women, a Ureaplasma infection can cause irritation in the genital area and pain when having sex or urinating. An untreated infection may make it harder to get pregnant, and/ or increase the risk of miscarriage. It is important to ensure that you do not have an infection during pregnancy or birth.
