What is a hormone replacement therapy (HRT) test?
HRT means the replacement of any hormone that the body is missing. In the case of this test, HRT refers to the replacement of the hormones in women which are no longer produced during the perimenopausal period (the period leading up to the menopause), or after the menopause itself. If you are taking HRT medication, the levels of these hormones will be restored and will alleviate symptoms such as night sweats, hot flushes, vaginal dryness, irritability, low sex drive, low mood, and sleep disturbance.
