Better2Know is the Middle East’s largest provider of private STI testing services. Our sexual health clinics in Oman offer a wide range of tests and screens, designed by our team of medical specialists to suit your requirements. We test for STIs such as HIV, Gonorrhoea, Syphilis, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and many more, including Chlamydia.

Chlamydia is one of the most common sexually transmitted infections (STIs). It is a bacterial infection caused by a microscopic organism that lives as a parasite inside human cells. The bacterium can thrive in various regions of the body including the penis, vagina, anus and throat; so, unprotected sexual contact with any of these areas may lead to infection.

Why should I get tested for Chlamydia in Oman?

Due to the way it functions, Chlamydia can cause infection without necessarily damaging human cells, therefore the condition is often symptomless. In fact, fewer than a third of women with Chlamydia show signs of infection, while only half of the men affected will experience any symptoms at all.

For those people who do show symptoms, they may include unusual discharge or a painful sensation when urinating. Women could also experience back pain, discomfort during intercourse and/or vaginal bleeding, while men may suffer from inflamed or swollen testicles and soreness around the tip of the penis.

If left untreated, Chlamydia can permanently damage sexual and reproductive organs in both men and women. Chlamydia also increases the risk of contracting other STIs including HIV and Gonorrhoea. So, should you recognise any of the symptoms above, or if you are simply unsure, it is important that you get yourself tested as soon as possible. After all, it is always Better2Know.

How can I test for Chlamydia in Oman?

Chlamydia can be cured with a course of antibiotics but it is important that the infection is detected and treated as early as possible. Testing with Better2Know is swift, stress-free and completely confidential. You can test for Chlamydia at our clinics in Muscat or Sohar just 14 days after potential exposure to the infection. We provide Chlamydia tests individually, or as part of a combination of tests, known as a screen.

All our expert clinicians will require is a simple swab or urine sample without asking you any uncomfortable questions.
