UNAIDS estimates that there are around 8,200 people living with HIV in Saudi Arabia, numbers which have consistently increased year on year. This rising trend emphasises the importance of HIV testing and paying regular attention to your sexual health. If you have any doubts concerning HIV or any other sexually transmitted infections, keep yourself and your partner safe by getting tested as soon as possible.

Better2Know provides two types of HIV tests in Saudi Arabia:

  • Our HIV DUO test will detect HIV just 28 days after infection. It combines an antibody test for both strains of HIV with an antigen test for the P24 antigen. This 4th generation test is the most advanced method for detecting HIV and is considered 99.8% accurate at four weeks, increasing to 99.9% after 90 days.
  • For those wanting to be tested even earlier, our HIV RNA PCR test will detect the presence of HIV just 10 days after exposure to the virus. This test is part of our Early Detection Screen, which also looks for Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C infections. PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) is a method of testing that extracts and amplifies the genetic material of an organism. In short, it looks for the presence of the virus itself and therefore the incubation period is shorter when compared to other HIV and STI tests.

If you require an HIV test certificate, Better2Know can make the appropriate arrangements for you. Likewise, if you would like to speak to a doctor before or after your test, Better2Know’s expert Patient Services team will schedule a confidential consultation for you. For more information on our screens, tests and services in Saudi Arabia please contact our friendly advisors who will be happy to assist you.

National legislation

In the Middle East, the regulations regarding HIV can be complex. Our testing services are performed in line with national regulations, which means positive HIV results may need to be reported to the appropriate authorities. You might also need to provide a form of personal identification at your private appointment.
