In the UAE, it is thought that nearly 70 per cent of patients are undiagnosed [3].

What is Hepatitis?

Hepatitis is the term used to describe liver inflammation and can occur as a result of long-term liver damage or a viral infection. Though some types of Hepatitis will pass without causing serious harm, others can last longer, leading to scarring of the liver (cirrhosis), loss of liver function, and even liver cancer.

There are many different types of Hepatitis. Better2Know offers testing for the most common types: Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C. To find out more about the differences between Hepatitis A, B and C, please read our blog here.

How will I know if I have Hepatitis?

Acute, or short-term, Hepatitis often has no sign of infection, meaning you might not even realise you have the condition. If symptoms do develop, they can include sickness, tiredness, itching, pale or grey coloured poo, muscle or joint pain, darker urine, or jaundice.

A Hepatitis infection may only be picked up during a blood test, making it vitally important to look after your safety and get yourself tested.
